Mailbox Improvement
U.S. Post Office Holds Mailbox Improvement Week May 21-27
The U.S. Post Office has designated May 21-27 as Mailbox Improvement Week to encourage customers to examine and, where necessary, improve the appearance of their mailboxes. This week calls attention to the need for providing mailboxes that are:
-
Approved by the Postmaster General.
-
Designed to protect the mail from weather.
-
Safe to use.
-
Conveniently located.
-
Neat in appearance.
Mailboxes that meet these five important requirements help delivery and collection operations. There are three approved styles of curbside mailboxes:
-
Traditional design (see Exhibit A).
-
Contemporary design (see Exhibit B).
-
Locked, full, or limited service.
